ToolsLab collects the following information to provide a seamless experience:
Account Information: We collect your name and email address via Firebase Authentication when you create an account or sign in.
Chat Messages & History: For authenticated users, your conversations with the AI are securely stored in Firebase Firestore (path: users/{uid}/conversations).
Tool Usage Logs: We temporarily log tool usage (toolId, execution time) strictly to power the tool history feature within the app.
Local Browser Storage: For guest-mode users, all chat data and preferences are saved locally using your browser's localStorage. For all users, app preferences such as your selected theme, accent color, active persona, and selected model are also saved locally.
Third-Party Processors
We rely on trusted third-party services to power ToolsLab's capabilities. Your data may securely pass through these services:
OmniRoute: Aggregates 290+ AI providers into a single endpoint for chat message processing. Requests are routed through our secure worker, ensuring your data stays protected.
GitHub Models: Serves as a reliable fallback AI provider if our primary models are unavailable.
Tavily: Processes search queries securely when you use the web search tool to find real-time information.
Cloudflare: Hosts our edge API worker and processes requests (including your IP address) solely to enforce rate limits and prevent abuse.
Firebase & Google Cloud: Hosts our authentication system and secure database infrastructure.
What We DON'T Do
We do not sell your personal data to any third parties.
We do not use your conversation content for advertising or marketing purposes.
API keys for third-party providers are never exposed to the frontend, protecting your security.
Data Retention
Your chat history is retained on our servers until you explicitly choose to delete it. You can delete specific chats or your entire account at any time. For guest-mode users, data lives entirely in your browser's local storage and will be permanently lost if you clear your browser data or switch devices.
Your Rights
You have full control over your data. You can export your information or completely delete your account and associated data at any time by visiting Settings → Data Controls within the app.
Security
We take your privacy seriously. Our Firestore security rules are strictly configured so that all reads and writes are restricted to the authenticated user's own data (request.auth.uid == userId). No other user, third party, or unauthorized entity can access your private conversations.
